Few things are more frustrating than nails that finally start to grow, then snap right off. I'm Angely, and I've held a lot of hands through this exact frustration. The good news: weak nails can almost always be coaxed back to strength with patience and care.
First, understand why nails get weak
Brittle nails usually come down to one of a few things — too much water exposure, harsh products, over-filing, low moisture, or sometimes nutrition. Once you remove what's hurting them and add what nourishes them, they recover beautifully.
Protect them from water and chemicals
Water swells the nail and then leaves it dry as it evaporates, weakening it over time. Wear gloves for dishes and cleaning, and your nails will be noticeably stronger within a month.
Moisturize like it's your job
- Cuticle oil every single night, massaged into the nail and surrounding skin.
- Hand cream after every wash.
- A weekly oil soak if your nails are especially thirsty.
Be gentle when you file and shape
Always file in one direction with a soft file, and skip metal tools that can split the nail. A little restraint here protects the layers of your nail.
Nourish from within
Protein, water, iron, and biotin all support stronger nails over time. You won't see overnight magic — nails grow slowly — but stay consistent and the new growth will come in noticeably tougher.
Give it six to eight weeks of gentle care and watch the difference. Your nails want to be strong — they just need you on their side.
