Most people don't have bad nails — they have inconsistent habits. I'm Angely, and I've found that a simple, realistic routine beats sporadic bursts of effort every time. Here's a weekly rhythm you can actually stick to.
Every day
Two tiny habits carry the whole routine:
- Cuticle oil at night — a drop per nail, massaged in.
- Hand cream after washing — every time, all the way to your fingertips.
Twice a week
Check your shape and gently file any snags in one direction. This prevents the catch-and-tear breakage that ruins length.
Once a week
- Push cuticles back gently after a shower.
- Lightly buff if needed (no more than once a week).
- Refresh your top coat if you wear regular polish.
- Do a deeper hand treatment: cream plus cotton gloves overnight.
Every few weeks
Visit your favorite nail tech (hi!) for shaping, cuticle care, and either a fresh set of gel or a polish change. A professional touch every two to three weeks keeps everything on track and catches little issues early.
Always
Wear gloves for chores, never use your nails as tools, and never peel off your polish. These three rules prevent the vast majority of nail damage.
Keep it kind, keep it simple
Don't aim for perfect — aim for consistent. A few small, caring habits, repeated week after week, will give you the healthiest nails of your life. Start tonight with a single drop of cuticle oil, and let the routine grow from there.
You've got this. And whenever you'd like a hand, we're right here in Richmond Hill, ready to spoil your nails a little.
